I tend to use different sources for different programs, all the sites i will list are all very trustworthy so you've no need to worry about genuine software or information given from my list.
This blog is just to simply put all my sources in to one place for the rest of the internet users that want to get in to the hacking scene and stumble upon this blog may get a basic idea of where to start/look first for source.

www.sec-tools.org has some awesome tools and explains how good and what uses they are/have
www.hackthissite.org is very fun and if you new to the scene you may struggle a bit with these, but the idea is for you to hack the site to get through to the next set of logins/pages. Very fun indeed.
www.wikipedia.com and www.google.com believe it or not, are very informative too haha.
www.darknet.org.uk is an awesome one to add to my list too
http://www.treyno.com/ is one of my favourites, all the software you need in one place, valid links, hacking/generally related news updated daily and tutorials/tips and tricks on there, www.treyno.com is fairly new on the scene and i follow it regularly, check out http://www.treyno.com/downloads.html .
